Over 500 athletes from 20 countries competed at the Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships in Edinburgh last weekend. This was the first time the games had been held in Scotland and it was a full house of excited spectators at the Meadowbank Stadium where the championships were held. The atmosphere was electric as each day built to the final matches of the day and the coveted Commonwealth Medals.
Quest players came away with 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals: Congratulations to Josh Tickle from Quest Liverpool who fought like a Champion to receive his Silver Medal against some tough components. Also well-earned were Bronze Medals for Megan Featherstone, Ellie Foster and Daniel Moody. Well done all!
And they all fought alongside our British Elite Senior fighters who won 12 gold medals at the Championships. Mahama Cho, Lutalo Muhammad and Rachelle Booth brought home the English Gold Medals, Jade Jones won her first Commonwealth Championships to secure a Gold medal for Wales, and Damon Sansum took home the Gold medal for Scotland.
Quest Taekwondo, and all its athletes, parents and spectators, would like to thank David Bailey, the support staff, the officials and all the coaches for making it such a well run and organised event. Thanks to all the England Coaches who coached our cadet, junior and senior athletes and the support team.
