Summer seems to be the season for Demo’s and Quest Penistone have been in demand in the local area. Firstly we were invited to give a demo at Silkstone School Summer fete on the 14th of June. A sudden down-pour of rain sent everyone heading inside to a very cramped hall but a nice big audience for the Quest Demo Team. The teens and young athletes certainly made an impression with the young audience, which was topped-off with impressive board breaking from Mike McKenzie. But the best bit of the day was the eagerness of so many of Silkstone School pupils to get up and all have a go at pad kicking at the end of the demo.
This was followed by an invite from Tesco Supermarket in Penistone to perform at their Charity Fun Day on June 30th. Again, a good time was had by all participants and we had a great audience. All money raised at the event is donated to Tesco’s charity of the year, which this year is Diabetes UK.
We’re not sure whether it was the sparring prowess of the boys, Mike’s board-breaking skills, or just the super-cuteness of the little Monstars, but Quest Taekwondo were asked whilst at the demo to perform at the up-coming Thurlstone Gala on the 13th of July. We hope that soon there will not be many from the local and surrounding area who have not seen Quest Taekwondo in action, and had just a little taste of our amazing sport. You never know, it may even lead to a future British Olympic Champion taking their first ever Taekwondo lesson.
