Congratulations to Harriet Akeroyd for having been awarded Leeds University’s prestigious Sports Scholarship award. The award supports elite athletes as they combine academic and sporting excellence during their time at university.
According to the University, "Here at the University of Leeds we are committed to ensuring our elite athletes are able to compete at the highest level, whilst studying for a world-class degree"
Every year a select number of high performing athletes are awarded the sports scholarship packages. Such athletes have been deemed to have demonstrated aspirations to progress and achieve high levels of success within their chosen sport. Previous athletes who have received the scholarship include Alastair Brownlee (Triathlon Gold Medallist, London 2012 Olympics), Claire Cashmore (Swimming Silver Medallist, London 2012 Paralympics, and Ash Ball (Hockey Bronze Medallist, London 2012 Olympics).
The scholarship programme recognises the individuality of each athlete, and that needs differ from sport to sport. The programme is sympathetic to this, and provides a unique approach that tailors scholarships to the needs of each individual athlete.
Well done Harrie …!
