Quest Medal Success at the British International Open Competition

As the British temperatures soared, of course it was the perfect day to spend tightly jammed into a sports hall for a Taekwondo Competition.  Our team have just returned from a very successful trip to the British International Open Competition in Aylesbury.  The day saw 8 of our players compete and we came home happy with 8 medals.

First up were the Peewees and Cadets who all put in comfortable performances.  Shane Burgin had 2 great action-packed matches, losing out on Golden point to receive the silver medal.  Liam Burdock lost out in his final match and also received Silver.  Our 3 Cadets gave comfortable first match performances to go though to the semi-finals, where both Daniel Moody and Alex Foster narrowly missed out to receive Bronze medals.  Luke Jones went on to beat his opponent 7-1 in the final to receive the Gold Medal.

And then to the Juniors.  It was always going to be a tough one as we watched our girls come closer to the obvious conclusion of facing each other in the final.  Both fought valiantly but it was Megan Featherstone who won out on the day with a focused and determined performance to receive the Gold medal over teammate Ellie Foster.  However, we had all watched in awe at Ellie’s previous match where she fought for her semi-final place with skill and confidence.  We were all proud of them both.

And finally Jacob Barnett brought home our 3rd Gold Medal of the day with consistent and professional performances in all his matches.  Despite tough opponents and having only just moved up to seniors, his skill and determination kept him comfortably ahead to cruise three wins to a Gold medal.
