Quest Taekwondo, Penistone, Achieves Clubmark Status

Quest Taekwondo, Penistone, has become the first club in the north of England to achieve the prestigious Clubmark status.  The national standard for club development and operations is awarded by South Yorkshire Sport once a club has been assessed and shown to provide the right environment which ensures the welfare of members and encourages everyone to enjoy sport and stay involved throughout their lives.

An accredited club is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages as well as helping parents and carers know that they're choosing the right club for their young people.

Mike McKenzie founded Quest Taekwondo in 1988, and the current lead Quest venue was established in 2010 and currently has 100 members with ages ranging from 4-50 years old.  Quest's goal is to help members achieve their potential by having a clear development programme as well as excellent instructors.

Mark Needham, Chair of the Quest Management Team, accepted the award on an Olympic themed training day.  Jo Drapier, club development lead for South Yorkshire Sport, said, "I am very proud to present Quest Taekwondo with the Clubmark accreditation exactly one year on from the start of the London 2012 Taekwondo Competition.  The award recognises the great work the club is doing to inspire more people to participate in sport and continue our Olympic legacy."

Also attending to assist with the presentation was GB Taekwondo Junior Team member and 2016 hopeful, Quest Taekwondo student Jacob Barnett.

Penistone's Chief Coach, Mike McKenzie, has more reasons to celebrate than most as he was also the Taekwondo Sport Manager at London 2012.
